The SUS Blade™ is a STUPIDLY STRONG lure capable of being not only versatile and productive, but also abused by both anglers and large (salt and fresh water) predator fish. In 2025 the first version of the SUS Blade™ was developed and tested. In building this lure no short cuts were taken to ensure incredible strength and resilience to the elements as well as BIG teeth. The SUS Blade™ I is a whole new take on a popular lure design called a blade bait. However there is more technology in the SUS Blade™ than meets the eye. See Below…

CAD Design

The U.S.A. SUS Blade™ I and SUS Blade™ II lure bodies are laser cut from STUPIDLY STRONG aerospace impact resistant aluminum. The SUS Blade™ II reflects many improvements in body weight reduction, hydrodynamics, and overall lure balance to improve lure action, castability, and retrievability. I’ve also added finger grips to improve ease of lure removal and safety when tying and tightening attachment knots.

3D Printed Floats

Each aluminum SUS Blade™ lure is sandwiched between 2 proprietary floats. Many popular blade bait designs are made of metal only, and sink much quicker than a wounded bait fish would naturally. These floats prevent this problem. I call this Slo-Sink™. These floats are produced from STUPIDLY STRONG chemically resistant, low density, high strength-to-weight ratio, fatigue resistant, plastic. Hidden under these floats is a proprietary system of both weight reliefs and weights arranged carefully to create underwater leverage for maximized underwater lure action.

Many people do not know that most fishing equipment bought and sold in the United States is subject to a 10% Federal Excise Tax in addition to sales tax. This additional tax supports government funded programs aimed at environmental protection, conservation, and education, all of which ultimately helps preserve the countless waterways enjoyed around the United States for recreational and competitive angling. I include all taxes in the prices of my items.

Final Remarks

At Berger Ops. Fishing®, no expense is spared in protecting the quality of my lures. With this being said, each bait is a little different, and as much as I strive for perfection, MINOR imperfections (especially in fit and finish) should be expected. Lure tuning is the responsibility of the purchaser, however each lure should perform "okay" right out of the box.

Each lure is airbrushed and/or hand laid with machine cut vinyl using high quality Made in the U.S.A. adhesives and paints. I use a wide variety of vinyl products which are all cut in house using my own designs. These flexible layers of paint and vinyl help prevent chipping of the finish and add yet another layer of protection. My patterns are carefully created to attract both the savviest of anglers and the slyest of fish. Contact me for custom paint jobs!

Top Coating

To finish off my baits I use 3 coats of a special hardening clear finish which gives my baits a remarkably consistent sheen, and adds an incredible amount of strength. The clear coat I use is hydrophobic, impervious, hardened, chemically inert, scratch and impact resistant, and UV resistant.

Hooks

Because I build lures capable of pulling well over 200lbs. before mechanical failure, My U.S.A. custom baits come standard with Eagle Claw® 4x strong Made in the U.S.A Lazer Sharp™ oversized hooks. Why? Oversized hooks are less likely to get swallowed and are much easier to free from the mouth of a fish making them more humane to use. They also add more weight to improve castability.

Split Rings

As a final touch, I only use high quality, STUPIDLY STRONG, stainless steel split rings and eyelets. These won't rust, and offer superior strength and resistance to bending compared to standard coated steel rings.
